Welcome from AKIA President
Dear Colleagues,Since its establishment in 2013, the AKIA (Association of Korean Immunologists in America) has promoted scientific interaction not only among the immunologists who actively operate scientific programs in the US but also between those in US and Korea. Starting in 2014, the AKIA has hosted a joint guest symposium with the Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI) in both annual AAI conferences and KAI conferences. I specially thank the late Dr. Charlie Surh (Postech) and Dr. CheongHee Chang (U Michigan) for implementing the first AKIA meeting in La Jolla, as well as Drs. Jae Jung (USC), Chang Kim (U Michigan), and Hyun Park (NCI) for running the first and second council of the AKIA. Also, I thank Drs. Booki Min (Cleveland Clinic) and Jeoung Sook Shin (UCSF) who were the members of the 3rd council with me. The newly formed forth council (joined by Dr. Min Soo Kim from U Rochester and Dr. Ae-Kyung Yi from U Tennessee) is excited to begin its tenure for the AKIA. Having more than 40 members, the AKIA hopes to be a platform where established Korean American Immunologists can interact to promote their research interests and help trainees in developing careers in the field of immunology. We look forward to seeing all of you in the future meetings.
